Different machine from the SW-781 D — the 781 D handles standard straight buttonholes; the 9820 handles keyhole (the rounded-end buttonhole that makes room for the button shank) and eyelets. Production lines that need both buy both.
Why electronic over mechanical keyhole
- Range — 8 to 50 mm eyelet, 5 to 50 mm straight. Mechanical machines lock you to a cam size; the electronic adjustment lets the operator switch between buttonhole sizes mid-run without changing parts.
- 2,500 SPM with consistent stitch density. Keyhole stitch density is what tells a finished keyhole apart from a sloppy one. Electronic control holds the density through the round end and the bartack reinforcement.
- Production-line reliable. Built for shops that stamp out keyhole buttonholes as a discrete cycle on every garment, not as occasional finishing work.
Application examples
Jean front placket
5-button front fly on heavy denim with reinforced bartack ends. Keyhole shape lets the rivet button sit flat against the placket without distorting the buttonhole.
Suit jacket fronts
3 to 5 keyhole buttonholes on a wool suit jacket front. Variable size between front and sleeve buttonholes (smaller on sleeves); electronic adjustment switches without operator setup.
Workwear coverall
Eyelet buttonholes on heavy bib overall front for shanked utility buttons. The eyelet rounds the front of the hole to accommodate the shank without binding.
