Description

Direct-drive variant of the cylinder-bed walking foot family. Same tubular work as the SW-335, with the direct-drive motor that eliminates belt maintenance and improves low-speed torque on heavy leather production.

Who runs this

Same audience as the SW-335: leathercraft shops, footwear manufacturers, saddle and tack makers, upholstery shops on tubular work. Pick the SW-1341/VS/DD when you want direct drive (quieter, better low-speed torque, no belt to maintain).

Three-tier cylinder-bed walking-foot ladder in the catalog: SW-335 (servo, standard bobbin), SW-335L (servo, large bobbin), SW-1341/VS/DD (direct drive, large bobbin). Pick based on thread weight and motor preference.

Why direct drive on cylinder bed

  1. No belt to retension. Cylinder-bed work involves frequent corner pivots — boot shafts, saddle skirts, drum cushions all wrap curves. Belt-driven motors drift over time; direct drive doesn't. Less maintenance.
  2. Low-speed torque on heavy leather. Cylinder work on saddle-grade leather needs stitch-by-stitch placement at fingertip-slow speeds. Direct drive holds full torque at any speed; servo systems drop torque at very low RPM.
  3. Triple unison feed. Same as the SW-335 family — needle feed, bottom feed, walking presser foot moving in sync. Slip-resistance on multi-layer leather around the cylinder.

Application examples

Saddle skirts

Three-layer saddle skirt with welt seam. Direct-drive low-speed torque handles the welt corners without stalling.

Boot shafts

Two-layer leather boot shaft with #138 bonded nylon. Cylinder bed lets the shaft wrap the arm; direct drive keeps the torque available through tight stitch placement.

Drum cushions

Cylindrical ottoman cover with welt edge. Closed-tube construction wraps the cylinder; direct drive runs quiet through long seam runs.

What ships with it

Machine assembled with integrated direct-drive motor, industrial table, machine stand. Triple unison feed.
