4-inch direct-drive servo cutter — the smaller, lighter cutter for sample rooms, alteration shops, and any cutting station that doesn't need the CZD-3's 6 or 8-inch reach.
Who runs this
Sample rooms cutting prototype panels in single layers or low stacks. Alteration shops doing fitting cuts on finished garments. Smaller production runs where the CZD-3's capacity is overkill.
Direct-drive servo motor — no belt to maintain, smooth cutting action, less weight on the operator's wrist over a long shift.
Why direct drive on a small cutter
- Smoother blade action. Direct drive eliminates belt lash and slip. Cleaner cuts on stretchy or slippery materials where belted cutters chatter.
- Lighter overall weight. No belt assembly = lower hand weight. Operator fatigue over a long shift is less.
- Maintenance interval extends. Belt cutters drift over time as the belt stretches. Direct drive doesn't. Less time on calibration, more time cutting.
Application examples
Sample-room patterns
Single-layer prototype panels for client sampling. Direct drive gives the precision of a CZD-3 in a smaller, more maneuverable package.
Alteration cuts
Trimming finished garments to fit. The 4-inch blade is sized for precise cuts, not stack-clearing volume.
Light-volume production
Small custom-apparel shop doing 5-10 layers per cut at most. The SP100DD is right-sized; the CZD-3 8-inch is overkill.
Specs
4-inch blade, direct-drive servo motor. Hand-held form factor for one-operator use.
